Organizational Behavior

Course Purpose

This course examines the human aspects of an organization. The most basic objectives of the course are to provide students with a broad introduction to the field of Organizational Behavior in a realistic, practical manner. Students will be exposed to key areas including team building, conflict management, communication, organizational politics & ethical decision making.

Reflective Statement Interpreting IOTA Evaluations

Overall the student evaluations are quite positive (see IOTA below). Students ranked me as an excellent teacher with a score of 4.6 on a scale of 0-5. Student comments also reflect that they agree with my teaching methods I continue to focus on experiential real-world learning via industry leader guest speakers. I believe I am doing a good job varying my teaching methods and the IOTAs reflected this.

Learning Outcomes

Students should have a solid understanding of the major decision areas in Organizational Behavior including how to interact effectively with others, how to succeed in organizations, being a team player, building trust, managing conflict, negotiating, communicating, influencing and leading others, self-management, making ethical decisions, avoiding group-think, listening, dealing with organizational politics, handling change & managing stress and how these major decision areas influence morale, efficiency and ultimately profitability.
